Sun and Stowe = Success for Kawasaki On the Road event

In sun drenched conditions, the first event of the Kawasaki On the Road tour was judged an outstanding success by the hundreds of two-wheel fans that turned up to experience all things Kawasaki in Northamptonshire on 9 April.
Based at the recently refurbished Stowe circuit area of the internationally famous Silverstone motor racing complex, the event offered free road based test rides on a vast range of machines from the 2011 Kawasaki range as well as a chance to take to the Stowe track itself under the supervision of track day experts, Focused Events.

The Kawasaki Motors UK organised event created a positive start for a countrywide tour that sees the free to ride test opportunity spread in coming weeks to a whole series of biking hotspots across mainland UK and Northern Ireland.

With appearances from Superbike stars Stuart Easton, Tom Sykes, Gary Mason and Chris Walker, there was no shortage of things to see and do at the all-day event including the chance to brush up on bike riding skills thanks to the Craig Jones Skills Academy.

Later in the day, Jones showed just how much there is to bike control with a series of jaw dropping stunts on Kawasaki machinery up and down the Stowe start/finish straight that held the huge crowd enthralled.

As an added bonus on the day, the Mayor of London's transport advisor, Kulveer Ranger, took time to come along and test ride both a Z1000SX and VN1700 Classic, while also sharing his views on future transport policy with bikers keen to know more about the capital's transport strategy.

At capacity from first thing in the morning, the road riding sessions featured a cross section of machinery with the new Ninja ZX-10R an understandably popular choice among those keen to see how it performed on country roads around the circuit.

Likewise, the Z1000SX and W800 machines remained booked all day showing that a true cross section of riders were attracted to the event as Sales and Marketing Manager for Kawasaki Motors UK, Michael Johnstone, confirmed.

"The weather and setting could not have been better for the start of our On the Road tour. With so many riders registering their details via the Kawasaki Riders Club web site in advance, queues were kept to the minimum and we managed over 150 road rides and broke 200 individual track sessions barrier in a busy and very rewarding day.

We had a great turn out of Kawasaki riders, members of the Kawasaki Riders Club and riders of other brands of bike that wanted to see what the Kawasaki experience is all about.

The whole tour now moves to Northern Ireland for the next event in mid-May and we hope that the upcoming dates are as hugely successful as the Stowe kick-off event."
